Law Entrance Exams

CLAT – The journey of legal education in India has picked up its substance with setting up of National Law University of India (NLSIU), Bangalore in 1987. The ‘institutionalized mediocrity’ before NLSIU’s introduction has been far left behind and the progress is notable from then onwards.

Common-Law Admission Test which is famously acronym as CLAT was introduced in 2008 as a gateway to 21 National Law Universities in India. 43 other institutes imparting legal education in addition to two public sector institutes can use CLAT’s score.

CLAT – Eligibility & Exam Pattern

Eligibility :

1. Under-Graduate Courses :

SSC (10 + 2) or equivalent certificate from a recognized board with ≥ 45% marks in aggregate (≥ 40% for SC & ST candidates). NO upper age limit.

2. Post-Graduate Courses :

L.L.B./B.L. Degree or equivalent from a recognized University ≥ 55% marks in aggregate (≥ 40% for SC & ST candidates).

200 multiple choice questions from 5 different sections viz. :

1. AILET – All India Law Entrance Test

AILET is another highly sought after law entrance exam, which is a gateway to National law University – Delhi.

AILET has 110 seats to fight for, with 20,000 students competing for it.

2. LSAT – Law School Admission Test, India

LSAT an all India level law entrance examination which is conducted by – Pearson VUE on behalf of Law School Admission Council (LSAC).

Nearly 76 law schools accept LSAT score.

Exam Pattern (LSAT) :

Mode of examination is offline and includes 92-100 MCQs which judge candidate’s analytics, reasoning skills, and reading skills.

3. Army Institute of Law (AILLET)

AILLET is a law entrance test for admission it into integrated BA LLB (5 years) course from Army Institute of Law, MohaliThere are in total 80 seats out of which 60 seats reserved for wards of Army Personnel.

4. Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT) :

SLAT is a common entrance test for law admissions into Symbiosis law schools at Pune, Noida and Hyderabad campuses. 5-year integrated courses (BBA LLB & BA LLB) have 840 seats in total.
